Blue Horizon Surf Film Screening and Q&A | 23 May 2025 | 7pm-9.30pm | Lennox Head Cultural Centre
Following the major success of The Occumentary tour, Jack McCoy is heading back on the road with Dave ‘Rasta’ Rastovich and an all star cast to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Blue Horizon and honour the memory of one of the greatest surfers of all time, Andy Irons.
The cult classic film follows the journeys of two of the world’s best surfers of the time, both whom chose a different path to the pinnacle of surfing – Rasta chose to escape the spotlight and search for perfect waves across every corner of the globe, whilst Irons became the most famous surfer on the planet by plying his trade on the ASP World Tour.
Incredibly, McCoy began shooting the feature film in 2002 and captured Irons’ treble of world titles and the incredibly intense rivalry he shared with Kelly Slater which reached boiling point when Irons took down Slater in the final event of the year at Pipeline to claim the 2003 World Title.
The film won 2004 Surfer Movie of The Year and became one of the highest grossing films of all time after McCoy, Rasta and Irons toured 10 countries, 156 screenings in front of over 88 000 people.
McCoy will be doing his trademark talk story presentation prior to the movie where he’ll shows unseen footage and stories from throughout the production. He’ll be joined by special guests who will provide an insight into Andy and some of the amazing memories they shared.
